Book: The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy - A trilogy in five parts

A short review of a big book, as I read this over the summer, but didn’t have the time to write my reflections on it sooner.

I wanted to read this “trilogy” for ages. I think that I was postponing it because I hoped it would be one of those books that I would instantly fall in love with, and so I would get stuck without anything more like it to read, like with Discworld.

Well, I really enjoyed the whole bizarreness of it! I like how self-sarcastic it is, and how easily it spontaneously dips into madness. I feel like it does not take itself seriously, but it is proud of itself nevertheless, and keeps on doing its thing.

I was kind of bored for a few pages here and there, probably more so when the story followed me lesser favored characters, but all in all, the book describes a whole Universe with endless possibilities, and that is something I simply love. The author, Douglas Adams, certainly had a lot of fantasy, and I applaud him for it.

Sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious, always weird. Non-stop adventuring in an endless Universe, full of monsters, weapons, friends, enemies, crazy “people” and jokes.

I would like to re-read it some day in the future, as there may be a lot of small details I have missed.

Great book, definitely recommended if you are into space, fantasy and enjoy a little chuckle here and there.
